Cleaning, sanitation and disinfection
They can be found everywhere, in the air, soil and water. They are on the skin, on surfaces and objects we touch. However, not all of them are bad, there are good germs, but it is true that germs can infect you and make you sick by having contact with any body opening, for example: Germs are found on the TV remote control, you grab it to change the channel and rubs his eyes or nose.
How can I avoid infection with germs?
Removes dirt, dust, crumbs and germs from surfaces or objects. When you clean, you will probably use soap (or detergent) and water to physically clean surfaces and objects. This doesn't necessarily kill germs. But since you eliminated some of them, there would be fewer germs that could transmit an infection to you.
Use chemicals (disinfectants) to kill germs on surfaces and objects. Some common sanitizers are bleach and alcohol solutions. Generally, you should let the sanitizer sit on surfaces and objects for a certain period of time to kill germs. Sanitization does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or eliminate germs.
It can be done by cleaning, sanitizing or both at the same time. Disinfecting means reducing the number of germs to a safe level. What is considered a safe level depends on the public health standards or requirements at a workplace or school, among others. For example, there are disinfection procedures for restaurants and other facilities that prepare food. What you do to disinfect will vary, depending on your needs. You may scrub the floor with a mop, a chemical, and water. You can use a dishwasher to sanitize dishes. Or you could use an antibacterial wipe on a TV remote control
To prevent the spread of infection, you should regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects. For example, in your home, this would include countertops, doorknobs, faucet and toilet handles, light switches, remote controls, and toys.
It is important to be safe when using cleaning and disinfecting products:
Store them in their original containers. Always follow instructions and pay attention to label warnings
Do not mix cleaners and disinfectants unless labels say it is safe to do so. Combining certain products (such as chlorine bleach and ammonia cleaners) can cause serious injury or death.
Read the label to see if you should wear gloves to protect your hands and/or eye protection when using these products.
If you swallow, inhale, or come into contact with these products, follow the label directions or seek medical attention.
Keep them out of reach of children
